Columbus resident John Boldt was one of a dozen engineers and surveyors brought in to design a 95-acre property in Haiti to house a ministry center for the Florida-based Love-A-Child mission. Boldt said there should be more to retirement than fishing and golfing, claiming serving through ministry was his passion.


Despite the dreary weather, around 1,500 people attended the fourth annual Bridal Fair, sponsored by the Ramada Inn and The Republic. Rachel Davis of Elizabethtown won the grand prize, a diamond heart necklace.


John Richardson and Richard Conger, and Charles Reed and George Kolopanis had the high scores for men’s pairs in the annual Brigerama sponsored by the Kappa Kappa sorority. Mrs. Ted Dawson and Mrs. Glenn Flint, and Mrs. Charles Wells and Mrs. Glenn Blancett had the high scores for women’s pairs.
