Indiana University Columbus donates cold weather gear to help community

As part of its “Warm Hands, Heads and Hearts” campaign, the Community Fundraising and Outreach Committee of Indiana University Columbus recently collected approximately 175 winter hats and 150 pairs of gloves for local students.

“We know that children often lose their hats and gloves throughout the season, and in Indiana it can still get very cold in February and March,” said Jayne Morris, IU Columbus Assistant Director of Enrollment Management and committee chairperson.

Morris will deliver several bags of child-sized hats and gloves, all donated by IU Columbus faculty and staff, to partner organizations this month.

The winter gear will be distributed to elementary students via school nurses.

The “warm hearts” part of the campaign speaks both to the proximity of Valentine’s Day and the feeling of warmth that’s shared by helping others.
