Looking Back – Feb. 20

A squirrel takes advantage of “fowl weather” on Feb. 19, 1974, sneaking food from a duck feeder at a pond in northwestern Bartholomew County near Camp Atterbury.


Five area high school seniors were chosen to receive the Good Citizens Award from the Joseph Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The local Good Citizens were Willis Jacob King, Emma C. Alexander, Kaden Christopher Eaton, Joshua David Gray and Haley Ann Webster.


Columbus native Mike Pence spoke at Covenant Christian School’s fundraising banquet and silent auction, addressing the responsibility of parents in their children’s education. Cuisine from around the world was served to reflect the evening’s theme of “Go Light Your World.”


Indiana Lt. Gov. Robert Orr was the guest speaker at the annual Bartholomew County Lincoln Day Dinner. The dinner was sponsored by the Bartholomew County Republican Party and was held as Gene’s Cafeteria in the Eastbrook Plaza shopping center.
