Jon Hall

INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Jon D. Hall, 70, passed away on February 10th, 2024, at his home in Indianapolis after a courageous years-long battle with leukemia. He was born December 7th,1953 in Seymour, IN to Barbara June Hall and Arlis Elner Hall. Jon lived in many places, including many years in Columbus, IN. He graduated from Newman High School in Illinois in 1972 and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1976. He spent most of his professional life in the environmental field in many different capacities.

Jon’s greatest love in life was playing folk, bluegrass, blues and roots music on the banjo, guitar, mandolin and mountain dulcimer. He played music at many venues including the Indiana State Fair, Eagle Creek Park, and various folk festivals and farmers markets. He made many lifelong friends along his life journey through his music and influenced many people to also learn to play and sing.

Jon is survived by brothers Jeff (Brenda) Hall of Mooresville, IN and Jerome (Becky) Hall of Ste. Genevieve, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Special thanks to Evelyn Schwein and her family for both providing care and being a loving friend to Jon during these past few years.

Per Jon’s wishes, cremation is planned and there will be no immediate services. A celebration of life event will be held at a later date and details will be forthcoming.
