Looking Back – Feb. 25

The Columbus North volleyball Club 12 Attack team won the Casey Cooley Volleyball Tournament for ages 12 and under in February 2014. 2014

For the seventh time in nine years, Columbus Regional Health was recognized as one of the best places to work in the state by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Columbus Regional joined 16 others in the category for companies with 1,000 or more employees and was one of just four hospitals on the list of 100 top companies.

1999

The laws of physics were tested by physics students in Columbus North High School’s pool with handmade boats constructed of cardboard, plastic and duct tape. The crafts ranged from simple cardboard boxes covered with trash bags to elaborate creations with radios and windshields.

1974

Television actor Johnny Whitaker, known for playing Jody in “Family Affair,” visited his sister and newborn nephew in Columbus. Whitaker visited the two at Bartholomew County Hospital and signed autographs for patients and employees.
