The Edinburgh boys basketball team slipped past host Brown County with a thrilling 54-50 overtime victory. The Lancers finished the regular season carrying a 12-7 record into the sectional tournament.


The Columbus North boys swim team beat Lake Central and rival Carmel for its second straight IHSAA Boys Swimming Championship. A huge turnout of North fans at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis helped push the Bull Frogs to victory.


Two teams that failed to win a Columbus sectional high school basketball tournament game the year before emerged as first-round winners in 1974’s sectional opening night. Columbus North avenged 1973’s loss to city foe East, 44-37, while Hauser edged Brown County, 67-65, for its first tourney win since 1969.
