Columbus North High School senior Cody Taylor set the state record in the 100-meter breaststroke finals in the Indiana High School Athletic Association boys state finals. He bettered his own mark by swimming 54.24 seconds to win his second consecutive 100 breaststroke championship.

1999

Richards Elementary School fifth-graders watched a show at Noblitt Planetarium at Columbus East High School for the first time since the facility underwent a major renovation in 1998. Hundreds of stars were projected onto the domed ceiling, along with the “Sam and Elmo” show, a program complete with music and cartoon characters.

1974

Columbus City Councilman Lynn Trautman resigned from his at-large seat on the council in light of being transferred to the Washington, D.C. area by 3M Corp. Trautman was hired as the sales supervisor for micrographics systems.
