Jack Fischvogt// Columbus East senior basketball player

Fischvogt led the Olympians with 11 points in a 41-33 first-round sectional win against Columbus North and with nine points in Friday’s 41-37 semifinal loss at East Central.

His performance last week: “I think I gave my best effort. Those last couple games, it was just leaving it all out there.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I usually try to drink a lot of water on game days and before the game and go hard in practice to prepare myself.”

Favorite drink: “Sprite.”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite class: “Government”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana Hoosiers basketball”

Favorite athlete: “Michael Jordan”

Role model: “My dad (Scott Fischvogt)”

Best advice: “Don’t live with any regret.”

Athletics goal: “Playing college basketball.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably The Bahamas because it’s real pretty, nice weather, warm.”

Laney Acton // Columbus North senior gymnast

Laney Acton

Acton finished 14th on both the bars and beam and 15th on the floor on her way to a 12th-place all-around finish Friday to help the Bull Dogs capture the team title at the Franklin Central Regional.

Her performance last week: “I think that was one of my best performances this season. I just had to focus in on the little things, and I think it really paid off.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Reese (Euler) and I usually say a prayer and listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Starbucks”

Favorite food: “Salmon”

Favorite class: “I like my Jewelry and Glass class”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University basketball”

Favorite athlete: “Gabby Douglas”

Role model: “My grandma (Carol Lawdermilt).”

Best advice: “Have fun with everything you do. Don’t overthink it. You have one life to live, and you have to make the best of it.’’

Athletics goal: “To end my season well.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Reese and I are actually going to Punta Cana this summer, so I’m really excited for that.”
