George Andrew Drab Jr., age 79, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late George and Emma (Owens) Drab, was born on November 2, 1944, in Madison.

George was generous: donated to several charities like Habitat for humanity, world wildlife foundation, and the Indianapolis zoo; hardworking: he worked at Cummins in plant one from his early 20s until his retirement at age 62. He loved his job and was proud of the work he did and friendly: George was a storyteller. He loved to chat and tell stories about his time in the Marines and Cummins, as well as his love for history and college sports.”

“He loved sports, mostly college sports. Basketball being his favorite. He enjoyed collecting commemorative coins and had most of his life. He had a love for wildlife and animals and donated to several related charities. He was a history enthusiast and read or watched a lot of shows/movies on American history. He also loved his classic movies always wanting to watch Turner Classic Movies if there wasn’t a sporting event to watch.”

Mr. Drab passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus, Indiana.

His life will be cherished by his daughter: Jennifer Drab, of Columbus; his sister: Betty Shinolt, of Butlerville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret White, and Mary Sue Manning; and his brothers: James Drab, and Michael Drab.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison’s hilltop with interment to follow in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday.
