Indiana Debate Commission plans GOP governor debate April 23

The six candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Indiana governor have been invited to debate before a live audience April 23 at an event sponsored by the Indiana Debate Commission. The event is the second announced Republican debate in advance of the May 7 primary.

The Republican candidates for governor are U.S. Sen. Mike Braun; Brad Chambers, former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corp.; Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch; Eric Doden, former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corp.; former Attorney General Curtis Hill; and Jamie Reitenour.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb is term-limited and cannot seek reelection.

Voters may submit questions for specific candidates or the whole field at the commission’s website, indianadebatecommission.com.

Though the commission will consider questions until shortly before the debate, voters who wish to be considered to ask candidates their questions directly via video at the primary debate should submit their questions by March 29.

The debate will run from 7-8:30 p.m., and will be livestreamed on the commission’s website. It will be available to all media in the state to carry live via broadcast or streaming online.

Previously, WISH-TV Channel 8 in Indianapolis announced it will hold a debate featuring all the GOP candidates with the exception of Reitenour. The station will broadcast and webcast the debate live at 6:30 p.m. on March 27.

Democrat Jennifer McCormick, formerly Indiana’s superintendent of public instruction, is unopposed in seeking her party’s nomination for governor.
