COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Karen A. Moore, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 9:22 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, at her home at the age of 84.Karen was born in Columbus, June 18, 1939, the loving daughter of Oscar and Dorothy Voss Mengler. She was the wife of William D. Moore, to whom she was faithfully married to for nearly 61 years from June 21, 1958, until his death March 1, 2019.Karen was a 1957 graduate of Columbus High School. She was a faithful member and volunteer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and she enjoyed her membership of the Jonesville Bells.She cherished the time she spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids and she enjoyed mowing grass, cooking, baking and sewing. In her earlier years, Karen looked forward to walks around the lake with friends and some of her favorite pastimes were playing golf with her husband, sitting on her porch and visiting with neighbors and friends, and playing cards with the card group.Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Maureen) Moore, Danny Moore and Darren (Pam) Moore all of Columbus; grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Kendra (Will) Wagner, Brooke Moore, Dayton (Kelsay) Moore, Weston (Bekah) Moore, Reese Moore and Laney Moore; great-grandchildren, Dean, Stella, Reagan and Claire Wagner, Emmalynn Moore and Waylon Moore; sister, Linda (Charles) Kiel of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dorothy Mengler and her beloved husband, William D. Moore. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Reverend Mark Teike and Pastor Gerald Hancock will officiate. The funeral service will live stream at barkesweaverglick.com.Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.Karen will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Jonesville.
