Indiana voter registration deadline is one month away

Eligible residents have a little more than a month to register to vote in this year’s primary.

Hoosiers have until April 8 to register to vote in the May 7 primary. Under Indiana law, legal adults who are U.S. citizens are eligible to vote as long as they meet certain criteria.

To register, a resident must:

  • be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident;
  • have resided in their voting precinct at least 30 days before the next election;
  • be at least 18 years old on the day of the election;
  • not currently be in prison after being convicted of a crime.

Residents may go online to register at indianavoters.in.gov.

Those who are already registered are encouraged to check their registrations before voting at indianavoters.in.gov.

The deadline for absentee ballot applications is noon on March 23. Voters can apply online at indianavoters.in.gov.
