CSA Lincoln students honored in art competition

A group of CSA Lincoln students finished in the top 100 in a statewide art compettion with one finishing in the top 10.

Symphony in Color held its 73rd competition for students and Hazel Kelley finished in the top eight during a ceremony on March 3.

The program “offers a unique blending of symphonic music and visual arts, involving more than 30,000 Indiana school children in grades 1-6,” according to the Indianapolis Symphony and Orchestra website.

Students from 20 schools entered the final round of judging and 100 pieces of art were picked as finalists to be exhibited at the Indiana State Museum from March 23 until April 28.

Students from CSA Lincoln that finished in the top 100 and will have their art exhibited at the Indiana State Museum include:

  • Mahira Narang, 2nd grade
  • Neeti Gujarathi, 3rd grade
  • Emily Meek, 4th grade
  • Iris Rynerson, 5th grade
  • Hazel Kelley, 6th grade (Gold Ribbon Winner)

During the exhibition later this month, attendees will be able to cast their vote for the People’s Choice winner.

Kelley has won the Mill Race Fun Run Art contest three consecutive years.
