Columbus North High School senior Mackenzie Caldwell was awarded a scholarship to the University of Colorado and signed to run cross-country with the Buffaloes. Caldwell estimated she’d run more than 1,300 consecutive days since early in her freshman cross-country season at North.

1999

Winners of the Big Brothers Big Sisters 16th annual Bowl for Kids Sake held on March 14 were announced. Barbara Voelz, Shirley Vincent, Jean Sims, Angela Kimmett, Rob Heathcote, Jiggs Thompson, Karen Ferguson and Samuel Stevens won the adult prizes, and J.R. Chappell, Norma Strain, Will Shirey and Tyler Heideh won the student prizes.

1974

A.V. Keesling, 67, was named the Outstanding Senior Citizen in Columbus for 1974 during a dinner meeting of the Bartholomew County Retirement Foundation. Keesling, a 1929 Purdue University graduate, was recognized for his contributions and service to Columbus.
