Peer-to-peer mental health sessions to begin in April

The National Alliance on Mental Illness South Central Indiana will offer NAMI Peer-to-Peer, an eight-session recovery-focused course for adults with mental health conditions and their loved ones, beginning April 30.

Beginning on that day, sessions will be held for eight Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Columbus Recovery Cafe, 1412 Sycamore St., Columbus.

The sessions are free and confidential and are led by peers with mental health conditions. NAMI is a community-based resource for information on mental health and recovery that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope, building on the strength and resilience of participants.

One patient who offered a testimonial about the Peer-to-Peer program described it as “life-saving and an eye-opening experience that changed how I see myself.”

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI South Central and dedicated volunteer members and leaders work to raise awareness and provide essential education, advocacy and support group programs for people in the community living with mental illness and their loved ones.
