INDOT to have I-65 overnight lane closures beginning April 1

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Midwestern Electric, Inc. plans to conduct a series of single lane closures along I-65 beginning on or after Monday, April 1, to install seven dynamic message (DMS) boards along I-65 throughout Johnson, Bartholomew, Jackson, Scott, and Clark counties.

Crews will work and are scheduled to conduct each overnight lane closure from approximately 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day. Work will take place along I-65 for up to two weeks, weather permitting. Crews plan to begin work in Bartholomew County and complete work in Clark County.

The night time lane closures are currently scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, April 1 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along southbound I-65 at mile marker 92.6 in Johnson County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Tuesday, April 2 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along southbound I-65 at mile marker 79 in Bartholomew County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Wednesday, April 3 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along northbound I-65 at mile marker 71.3 in Bartholomew County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Thursday, April 4 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along southbound I-65 at mile marker 52.3 in Bartholomew County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Tuesday, April 9 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along southbound I-65 at mile marker 31.2 in Scott County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Wednesday, April 10 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along northbound I-65 at mile marker 26.5 in Scott County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).
  • Thursday, April 11 (weather permitting): Right lane closure along southbound I-65 at mile marker 21.4 in Clark County (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

This work is part of a $6.5 million contract awarded to Midwestern Electric in March 2022. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
