One dead after two-vehicle accident in Jennings County

JENNINGS COUNTY –JenningsĀ  County Sheriff deputies said one driver died after a two-vehicle head-on collision at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 7300 block of West County Road 600N.
When deputies arrived on scene they located two vehicles that had been involved in a head on collision at a hill crest. The driver of one vehicle, Issac Hopkins, 23, North Vernon, had been ejected from his vehicle, investigators said.
Deputies, fire personnel, and Rescue 20 immediately began providing emergency medical care but Hopkins was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of that vehicle was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to St. Vincent Jennings Emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.
The second vehicle was occupied by three adults and one small juvenile in a car seat. All adults and the juvenile were transported by family members to St. Vincent Jennings Emergency Room to receive medical care for non-life threatening injuries.
Indiana State Police was contacted to perform a crash reconstruction. Deputies and other first responders closed a small portion of the roadway for approximately two hours while the reconstruction was conducted. Speed is believed to be a factor in the cause of the crash. Toxicology results are pending and the investigation is continuing.
