George M. Noblitt

COLUMBUS

George Marshall Noblitt passed away peacefully one day after his 95 birthday on March 22, 2024. George was born March 21, 1929, was raised, lived and died in Columbus Indiana. He loved Columbus. George is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret Jane Duckett Noblitt; his older sister Glenna Good of Columbus; nieces and nephews, Jill Carlson, Denise (Roger) Grayson, Michael (Sherry) Noblitt, Janice (Rex) Cory and Kevin (Beth) Noblitt all of Columbus, Kathy Duckett (Marcus Debro) of Bloomington, Jay (Claudia) Stoneburner of San Diego, CA and Sue (Jim) Black of Marietta, GA; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mabel Polley Noblitt; and a brother, Burdett Noblitt.

George was a true renaissance man, who not only founded Noblitt Fabricating Inc, a highly successful business in Columbus, but was an accomplished professional musician, a Korean War veteran, an open ocean sailor, a private pilot, a scuba diver, a snow skier, a cyclist and a master of the outdoor grill and storyteller par excellent! George loved being involved in Columbus community musical groups playing his slide trombone or piano. He and Jane traveled the world, often in support of Jane’s bicycling adventures or cruising to the far corners of the earth. George was a humble, thoughtful, and respectful man with a positive attitude that aways made you feel good when you were around him. George finally retired selling his beloved Noblitt Fab business when he was in his 80’s and turned his attention to maintaining their 40-acre property in Columbus, as well as vacation homes in Scottsdale and San Diego. George led a well-rounded and full life, loved as a husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend who will be sorely missed but remembered with loving and happy memories by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
