Looking Back – March 27

2014

J. Nicole, a locally owned stand-alone store that specialized in women’s clothes, set up shop in the FairOaks Mall. Owner Cheryl Stuck said she felt that Columbus had a good customer base for her business.

1999

The Dogwood Drummers, a local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, presented its annual fundraising banquet at the Ramada Inn. The organization was formed for the conservation of wild turkey and also to preserve turkey hunting.

1974

A banquet was held at the Hope American Legion that marked the end of an attendance contest for the Rho chapter of the Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority in Hope. The losers served the winners a buffet supper and skits were presented by the junior camp of the Royal Neighbors Lodge.
