2014

Fourth-graders at Parkside Elementary School presented Indiana first lady Karen Pence with a banner to take with her to Germany to present to Lohne Mayor Hans-Georg Niesel. Pence visited the school to kick off a cultural exchange between Columbus and its sister city in Lohne, Germany.

1999

Columbus resident Mary Nugent was gearing for her 63rd season as a Cincinnati Reds fan and recalled some of her favorite memories of the team. She attended her first Reds game in 1936 and had autographs from everyone on the team.

1974

Central Junior High School held its annual Festival Internationale, which was composed of student song and dance numbers that ranged from a Russian classic cello solo to an Irish jig. The festival’s grand finale songs were “Go Home and Tell Your Friends” and “Love Makes the World Go ’Round.”
