2014

The Columbus Fire Department did not allow the Crump Theatre to reopen because of safety hazards. Lafayette-based architectural firm Jones & Phillips detailed multiple safety hazards throughout the theater and gave options to renovate the space or tear it down and start over.

1999

Chemist H. Dieter Heinz taught an advanced hazardous materials chemistry class at the Cummins Tech Center in Columbus. Amused and fascinated onlookers, including the local hazmat response team and firefighters from Evansville, Carmel, Franklin and Beech Grove, watched as chemical reactions fizzed, smoked and exploded.

1974

Columbus East High School presented “Camelot,” their second musical of the year in the school’s auditorium. The lead actors for the play were Danny Lanham as King Arthur, Deanna Burton as Guinevere, and Mark Kalstrup as Lancelot.
