Carson Williams // Columbus East senior baseball player

Williams went 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs in Friday’s 9-5 win against Corydon Central and went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs in Saturday’s 13-7 loss at Decatur Central.

His performance last week: “I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but I’m very blessed to go out and do that for my team.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I’m very superstitious. I get one specific flavor energy drink, and I get a pack of skittles. I’ll say a prayer before I go up to my at bat, and I’ll do the same routine when I’m on deck.”

Favorite drink: “I like Dr. Pepper and McDonald’s sweet tea.”

Favorite food: “Special K cereal with the frozen dried strawberries”

Favorite class: “AP Calculus is pretty interesting, and (Chris) Cooper is a great teacher.”

Favorite sports team: “Cincinnati Reds.”

Favorite athlete: “(Former Red) Derek Dietrich. Just his aura and the way he played the game was so cool to watch.”

Role model: “My mom (Rebecca Miller). She’s a very hard worker, and she’s achieved a lot in her life. She’s been through a lot of tribulations and a lot of great challenges.”

Best advice: “Don’t overthink. I see a lot of younger guys, whenever they go through challenges, they have to go through a long process to fix that challenge. In my eyes, the first step is just dumbing down the situation, simplifying it and not thinking about it too much.”

Athletics goal: “Just be an influential part of a winning team.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I would go to some deep parts of Alaska. I really like the cold and mountains and stuff.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I do hitting lessons every week (with Kevin Danford), and my dad (Kevin Lovelace) and I go hit every single week.”

Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”

Favorite class: “I love psychology”

Favorite sports team: “Philadelphia Phillies”

Favorite athlete: “(Indianapolis Colts running back) Jonathan Taylor”

Role model: “My dad (Kevin Lovelace)”

Best advice: “No matter what, always try your best because you can always be an underdog and come back super strong and be one of the greatest.’’

Athletics goal: “My goal this year is to break the North hits record.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I want to go to Bora Bora because it is like the perfect paradise, I feel like.”
