National Weather Service issues tornado watch for Bartholomew County

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 10 p.m. for Bartholomew County and Columbus.

Also under the watch are Jennings, Decatur, Johnson, Rush, Shelby, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence, Daviess, Martin and Monroe counties.

The warning is in effect until 4 p.m.

At 3:36 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles northeast of Bloomfield, or 13 miles west of Bloomington, moving northeast at 85 mph.

The storm has 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

In addition to this warning, a tornado watch has been issued for Columbus and Bartholomew County.
