IU Columbus softball swept a River States Conference doubleheader from West Virginia Tech on Saturday, winning 11-2 in six innings and 6-3.
Columbus North graduate Lexi Heafner went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Gracie Holok went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, and Mallory Shelton went 2 for 4 in the opener. Sydney Owens threw a four-hitter.
In the second game, Delanie Bronner went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Izzy Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double and Holok had a triple and two RBIs. Starter Alexia Rieckers picked up the win.
Meanwhile, the Crimson Pride baseball team fell 6-0 and 2-0 to Midway. Nathan Van Bibber took the loss in the opener. Columbus North graduate Casper Clark threw a seven-hitter with five strikeouts and only one walk in the second-game defeat.
IUC baseball (10-30, 2-16) visits Huntington on Tuesday. The softball team (10-16, 6-10) will wrap up the home portion of its schedule when it hosts doubleheaders with IU Southeast on Friday and Midway on Saturday, which will be senior day.
