Oddessa “Nita” Pollitt, aged 76, a longtime resident of Columbus, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Nita was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who touched the lives of so many with her kindness and compassion.

Nita was born August 3, 1947, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Victor C. and Alberta J. Andis Behrman. On December 18, 1982, she married her soulmate Robert W. Pollitt, Jr. He proceeded her in death on December 28, 2015.

Mrs. Pollitt loved spending time with her family, friends and her beloved furry companions. She also enjoyed playing golf and reading. Nita was a woman of immense strength and resilience. Her life was marked by love for her family and friends. She had an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of everyone she met. Nita’s passing has left a void that can never be filled. She will be deeply missed by those that know her best.

Survivors include children, Patrick (Deb) Jones, Elissa (Joe) Carr, Ame (Patrick) O’Connor; grandchildren, Adam Jones, Lindsey Ott, Lauren Morris, Jacob Morris, Ashley O’Connor, Summer Parsons, Kainen Carr and Chelsy Carr; great-grandchildren, Nolan Ott, Layla Ott, Kai King, Kooper King, Aerith Morris; brothers, Ronald (Jo) Behrman of Dayton, Ohio, Tim (Angie) Behrman of Columbus, Roger (Rachel) Behrman of Greenville, IN, Michael (Michelle) Otto also of Columbus, John Otto of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with the family’s request, cremation will take place and a visitation only will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street. There will be no formal memorial service.

Inurnment will immediately follow at Garland Brook Cemetery for the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
