Jeff Raatz will look out for rural Indiana

From: Nathan LaMar, former president of the Henry County Council (2009-2019)

New Castle

As metro Indianapolis continues to prosper, most counties of rural Indiana continue to suffer from population loss. This happens despite the best efforts of our local economic development organizations (LEDOs). Population loss is particularly acute in almost all counties of the 6th Congressional District, which has stretched from Columbus to Richmond historically, but recently added Johnson County and southern Marion County, due to reapportionment.

We have entered an era of self-funded candidates, with little to no previous government experience, at the presidential and gubernatorial levels. Sadly, in the race to replace 6th District Congressman Greg Pence, R-Columbus, most candidates are self-funders, most of whom are metro Indy millionaires. One candidate’s nonstop TV ads mention illegals coming across the border and “[into] our suburbs.” What about our rural counties? Rural counties are not even mentioned in such ads! Likewise, don’t be deceived by their expensive flyers filling your mailbox. Despite Southport and Greenwood post office boxes for campaign office addresses, these are Indianapolis candidates.

Metro Indy already counts among its residents one of our US senators and two members of our current US House delegation. The Sixth CD is a rural district and deserves rural representation!

Within the 6th Congressional District, State Sen. Jeff Raatz currently represents Wayne, Henry, and Union Counties, and previously represented Randolph and part of Fayette. In his employment outside the State Senate, Jeff has worked tirelessly with LEDOs on the six-counties’ (Fayette, Henry, Randolph, Rush, Union, Wayne) Eastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (EIRPC). Therefore, unlike his metro Indy millionaire competitors, he gets us! He understands how to create jobs, how to stem the tide of brain-drain, and how to improve quality of life for rural Indiana. He will take these lessons learned to Washington, DC, but only with your help. Therefore, please vote for Jeff Raatz for Congress.
