North wins several events before meet at Brown County is called

NASHVILLE — Columbus North, Brown County and Seymour got in a little more than half of their track meet on Tuesday before rain and lightning caused it to be called after the girls 400 meters.

The Bull Dog girls had scored 71 points to 34 for Seymour and zero for Brown County through 10 of the 16 events. Seymour led the boys meet with 48 points to 42 1/2 for North and 2 1/2 for Brown County through nine events.

Individual winners for the Bull Dog girls were Sierra Newell in the long jump (15 feet), Abbi Schiefer in the shot put (31-5), Lily Miller in the 100-meter hurdles (17.18 seconds), Emerson Chambers in the 100 (13.14), Carys Glyn-Jones in the 1,600 (5:14.05) and Ava Collier in the 400 (1:07.27). North also won the 4×800 (10:46.12) and 4×100 (51.47) relays.

Winners for the Bull Dog boys were Wyatt Clark in the pole vault (10-0), Tucker Tower in the high jump (6-0), Drew Schiefer in the shot (49-5), Owen Russell in the 110 hurdles (16.15), and Jace Works in the 1,600 (4:22.68).
