Bull Dogs run at Franklin Central, Seymour

Columbus North had track athletes in two locations on Friday night. A handful of distance runners competed in the Franklin Central Showcase, while the rest of the Bull Dogs competed in a dual meet at Seymour.

At Franklin Central, Neal White finished 16th in the fourth and fastest heat of boys “Miracle Mile” in 4 minutes, 22.73 seconds. Jace Works took sixth in Heat 3 in 4:26.90, Logan Vanzant was 19th in Heat 2 in 4:34.23 and Adam Reckers finished 20th in Heat 1 in 4:41.00.

In the girls Miracle Mile, Carys Glyn-Jones took fifth in Heat 3 (the second-fastest heat) in 5:13.29. Kyleigh Wolf was 13th in Heat 2 in 5:28.50.

Granham Pumphrey finished 19th in the third and fastest heat of the boys Freshman Mile in 4:44.83. Justin Reckers was 18th in Heat 2 in 4:54.68.

Meanwhile, the North girls beat Seymour 110-22, and the Owls topped the Bull Dog boys 77-55.

Emerson Chambers led the North girls with wins in the 100-meter hurdles (16.26), 100 (12.88) and 200 (27.10). Sierra Newell took the pole vault (7 feet, 6 inches) and long jump (15-8), and Tristan Works captured the 1,600 (5:34.16) and 800 (2:36.40).

Other winners were Abbi Schiefer in the shot put (32-1), Gabby Revell in the discus (104-1), Maggie Russell in the 400 (1:03.23) and Macy Eaton in the 3,200 (11:50.33). The Bull Dogs also swept the 4×800 (10:35.79), 4×100 (52.18) and 4×400 (4:25.70) relays.

Winners for the North boys were Tucker Tower in the high jump (5-10), Drew Schiefer in the shot (52-2), Owen Russell in the 110 hurdles (15.80), Matthew Burge in the 100 (11.26), Jonny Klaus in the 2,600 (4:53.78), Derek Arau-Ortiz in the 400 (51.71) and Evan Bense in the 3,200 (10:00.26).
