Flood warnings extended for area rivers, additional road closings announced

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Flood warnings for area rivers have been extended, including the Driftwood River near Edinburgh, the East Fork White River at Columbus and Seymour and the Flatrock River near Columbus.

Rainfall of 1.5 inches to over 3 inches fell over central Indiana over the last couple of days. This is bringing most creeks and streams out of their banks and producing minor flooding alon the main stem rivers in central Indiana.

At 9:30 p.m. Thursday the stage was 11.8 feet.

The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.6 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.

  – Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

Flatrock River: Flood warning in effect until Saturday night.

At 9:30 p.m.  Thursday the stage was 11.2 feet.

The maximum river stage in the 24 hours  ending at 9:30 p.m. Thursday was 11.3 feet.

The river is expected to rise to a crest of 11.3 feet just after midnight Friday. It will then fall below flood stage FSaturday afternoon.

Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Satuday afternoon to a crest of 9.4 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Saturday afternoon.

 Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
