June M. Vinson

COLUMBUS

June M. Vinson, a longtime resident of Columbus, passed from this life at age 84, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

First in her heart was June’s family. Her greatest joys came from time spent with them: creating occasions to make each feel special, always being there to avidly cheer them on, caring for the needs of each and offering sound advice. June’s wings of love encircled those she held most dear: her children, husband, grandchildren, brother, niece, and parents (Frank and June Deli, both predeceased). June’s many friends know she was always happy to share her pride in the achievements of each.

With June, no one was a stranger. Her magnetic personality, interest in people and inquiring mind brought her friends wherever she went. Among her numerous activities outside the home was Welcome Wagon hostess; it could be said she knew almost everyone in Columbus, having personally welcomed newcomers to the community and celebrated their new babies.

When not visiting their grandchildren in Chicago and New York or her niece in Chicago, June and John traveled throughout America and the world, journeying together through six continents.

June was born and spent her formative years in Chicago. Her family relocated to Columbus in the early 1950’s in time for her to enter the newly constructed Columbus Senior High School, quickly becoming an integral part of student life and the wider community.

Her life will be cherished by her husband of 57 years, John; children, Debra Cahill of Columbus and Michael (Ann Ryan) Frohman of Delray Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Timothy and Gregory Cahill, Sarah Frohman Burlison and Katie Frohman; brother, Steven (Anne) Deli of Fisher Island, Florida; and her niece, Margaret Deli, of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Family and friends are invited Saturday, April 13, 2024, to a gathering from 2:00-3:30 p.m., including Remembrances in Celebration of June’s Life at 3:00 p.m., at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Animal Care Services. https://www.columbus.in.gov/animal-care-services/
