2014

The Columbus East High School boys track team surged through the competition and won 95-39 against the Jennings County High School Panthers. James Robinson won the high jump, 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles to lead the Olympians.

1999

Harry McCawley, The Republic’s associate editor, was reappointed Bartholomew County historian by the Indiana Historical Society and Bureau. McCawley, a Bartholomew County resident and local historical society member, had served as county historian since 1993.

1974

37 members of Edinburgh Community High School’s Ecology Club spent the day in Hanover to help with tornado damage cleanup. Pride-in-Edinburgh voted to pay a school bus driver to drive the students there, along with their club sponsor, Ron Fiesbeck.
