COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s office are investigating an accident that resulted in the death of a man who was helping another individual move in the Mineral Springs area.

The accident occurred around noon Friday in Mineral Springs on Karlsway Drive  when the driver, who was helping his passenger move in an F-150 pickup truck, told the passenger he was not feeling well and then suffered a medical emergency while driving, deputies said.

The driver, who the coroner’s office said is believed to be in his 50s, then crashed the truck into another vehicle in the neighborhood, resulting in the truck landing on top of the other vehicle, deputies said. The other vehicle, which was unoccupied, was a Chevrolet S-10, a small pickup truck.

Deputies said the driver later died but that details on the death would need to come from the Bartholomew County Coroner’s office.
