JASPER — Columbus East baseball. bounced back from an 11-1 loss to Jasper with a 9-8 win against Martinsville in the third-place game of Saturday’s Jasper Invitational.
Blake Borkhardt had a double and knocked in the lone run for the Olympians against Jasper.
East (4-11) trailed Martinsville 8-3 before tying it with five runs in the bottom of the sixth and winning it with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Borkhardt went 2 for 3, Jackson Watkins went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Marcus Wilkinson went 2 for 4 with a double and Evan Balzer had a double and two RBIs. AJ Tindell pitched a scoreless final 1 1/3 innings to pick up the win.
