Brian’s picks: The Republic’s Brian Blair on entertainment options

* For years, Dancers Studio Inc.’s interpretations of Lewis Carroll’s whimsical classic “Alice in Wonderland” have captivated audiences here. And with good reason. The nonprofit student troupe, guided by directors and choreographers, continues to present new takes on the story from 1865. The ensemble presents its latest production, along with a second act of excerpts from “Don Quixote” and other works, at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St. in Columbus. Information and tickets: dancers-studio.org, at Viewpoint Books and at the door.

* The Republic has followed the popularity of the pop-rock-blues cover band Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel for years, since the crew was appearing at everything from NeighborFest gatherings to the Biggest Block Party Ever. The Kokomo crew returns to Columbus at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Crump Theatre, 425 Third St. for what is billed as the ensemble’s 30th Bandiversary and a new album, “Kokomo Honey.” Admission is $20.

* Looking ahead a bit: The annual student pop-rock concert “American Pie: The Magical History Tour” is 6:30 p.m. May 3 at Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St. in Columbus. The event coordinated by Columbus North High School teacher and rock guitarist Jerry Mihay still offers its share of electric moments featuring teen performers presenting solid renditions of classic hits from the 1950s and later. Tickets are available at the Columbus North bookstore and at Mill Race Center.
