Columbus to host Delta Kappa Gamma state conference

Indiana chapters of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society will hold their State Conference at the Columbus Learning Center on Saturday.

The organization of key women educators has chapters in 17 countries worldwide. DKG was founded in 1929 and made its way to Indiana in 1938. Although conference attendance will be approximately 100, information from the conference will be disseminated to more than 1,300 current and retired K-16 Hoosier educators.

Every year, Indiana members convene to share ideas, set new goals and celebrate accomplishments in devoting themselves to educating and helping others. Organizers say participants leave with a renewed spirit, ready to help all communities represented.

After the general session, participants will attend breakout sessions with subjects ranging from “Service Learning-A High Impact Instructional Strategy for the Classroom and Beyond,” and “Multilingual Fund of Knowledge, The Nation’s Report Card,” to “Living, Learning, and Living with AI,” plus many more. Local presenters include Dr. Chris Walcott, Dr. Laura Liu, Dr. Kevin Jones, Sonya Valette, Nancy Woodruff, Kim Kritzer and Karen Garrity.

The keynote speaker will be Britt Brewer highlighting Columbus’ local architecture. The Columbus Philharmonic youth strings ensemble will provide entertainment.
