COLUMBUS
Gene Gulley, 68, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:49 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Gulley was born May 28, 1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Howard and Mary A. Samford Gulley.
Gene worked in retail and retired as manager from JCPenney.
He was an Indiana University graduate and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #741.
He enjoyed spending time with family and attending their sporting events, playing cards, teasing and joking and helping his niece and nephews with homework.
He was always there to lend an ear and give advice when asked.
Survivors include his sister, Rita (Greg) Dibble of Columbus; niece, Kelli Gamroth; nephews, Tyler (Kaylee) Purtlebaugh, Ryan Dibble, Zach (Brittany) Purtlebaugh and Carson Dibble; great nieces and great nephews, Hannah, Harper, Dawson and Grayson and dear friend, Kathy Mount.
He was preceded in death by his parents and close friend, Gary Mount.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with John Sichting officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m. to time of service.
Following the service, cremation is planned. A private graveside service will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery.
