James “David” Gray Sr., passed from this life at 10:36 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Mr. Gray was born September 6, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the son of James M. and Myrtle C. Brierly Gray.

David married April W. Jenkins July 1, 1991.

He retired from Cummins Engine Company and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-White Creek.

He was a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era.

Survivors include his wife, April of 32 years; children, Tammy Gray Watson of Nashville, Jamie (Lee) Gray of N.C., Jacob Gray of Seymour and Joshua (Lindsey) Gray of Columbus; grandchildren, Summer Watson, Jessica Stout, Ashley (Hunter) Bright, Sydney Cone, Deacon Wayne Gray and Zora Rane, Holden Joshua and Samuel Wilder Gray; and several brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Xander Watson.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. to time of service.

He will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
