GREENSBURG — South Decatur set a pair of school records on senior night Tuesday in its track and field dual meet wins against Crothersville.

Senior McKinley Shook ran a school-record 14.94 seconds to win the boys the 110-meter hurdles, breaking the record of 15.03 set by Trent Nobbe in 2019. Shook also won the high jump and 300 hurdles.

Owen Arreola won the long jump, 100 and 200 for the Cougars. Deacon Cruser took the discus, and Conner Newby captured the 400.

Junior Madisyn Danforth leaped 16 feet, 10 inches to tie the girls long jump school record set by Donna Cooper in 1982. Danforth also won the 200.

Zoe Meer won the shot put, discus and 300 hurdles. Brayley Sundal took the 100 and 400.

“We have a huge freshmen group this year — 11 boys and six girls — and we are putting all the pieces together to see where each athlete can best benefit the team,” South Decatur coach Bethany Fromer said. “The seniors and upperclassmen are helping our freshmen see the importance of how putting in the work and getting racing experience matters.

“Both the boys and girls teams have been flexible not only with rescheduled early-season meets due to poor weather, but also in moving around events so athletes can stay healthy,” she added. “We have been battling a few minor injuries, but we just need some rest and a few solid practice days.
