Kevin Douglas Shultz, 65, a resident of Columbus, passed from this life at 6:35 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Kevin was born in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Harold B. (H.B.) and Bertha E. Turpin Shultz.
He is survived by his life partner of 44 years, Janet L.(Davis) Shultz and a son Jacob B. Shultz (Megan); sisters, Susan (Bruce) Larson, Sarah (Rob) Ward; sister-in-law, Julie (Burch) Kinsolving; grandchildren, Liam and Bexlie; nieces and nephews, Monica and Trever Thayer, Bryce (Danielle) and Mallory Jones, Morgan (Kyle) Carmer, Kennedy Ward, Reagan (Connor) Goddard, Carter Ward and Eric (Missy) Kinsolving.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Timothy M. Shultz and a brother-in-law, Bruce Larson.
Kevin enjoyed working outside tending to the yard and giving a helping hand to neighbors and friends. He was also a muscle car enthusiast and had a talent for fixing cars. Playing cards and getting together with friends was another activity he enjoyed.
Kevin began his working career in his father’s business, Shultz Excavating Company. Later, he was a long haul truck driver. Recently, he spent his time with his family and his faithful dog companions.
In keeping with Kevin’s wishes, cremation will take place.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge 521, 4664 Ray Boll Blvd., Columbus, Indiana 47203. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
