BCSC board to vote on Phillips as new superintendent

Chad Phillips

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board members are set to vote to hire the next superintendent Monday night.

The board had named current Assistant Superintendent for Financial Services Chad Phillips as their selection earlier this month, and will formally vote to approve him during a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. in the Columbus North High School cafeteria.

If approved, Phillips will become BCSC superintendent effective July 1.

Superintendent Jim Roberts in January announced his intention to retire from the position to purse a new opportunity as vice president of the Community Education Coalition in Columbus.

BCSC had sought the help from the University Search Team in looking for the next superintendent, which assists with most superintendent picks in Indiana, gathered input through a community survey and involved administrators and Columbus Educators Association (CEA) representatives.

Phillips is completing his 20th year at BCSC— he also spent time as assistant principal at Central Middle School, Social Studies Department Chair at Columbus North and principal at CSA Lincoln.

He is a graduate of Purdue University and Indiana University. Before joining BCSC, Phillips taught social studies at Lebanon Senior High School, managed overnight shifts at the Kirby Risk Service Center in Lafayette and served in the United States Marine Corps.
