COLUMBUS
Robert “Bob” Wayne Miller, 76 years of age and a longtime resident of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:36 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024 at Franklin Meadows.
Bob was born December 20, 1947, in Huntsville, Alabama, the son of James Robert and Mamie Beatrice O’Field Miller. In 1974 he married his first wife, Marsha Palmer. Later in life, he married Lura S. Thompson on June 20, 2009.
Mr. Miller worked as a mechanic for the rock quarry in Flat Rock, Indiana for over 20 years before retiring. He loved to fix up old cars and build model boats out of fossil wood.
Survivors include his children, Misty Miller of Columbus, Bobby (Daphne) Miller of Edinburgh, Vonnie Miller, step-daughters, Bonnie (Danny) Decker of Scottsburg, Carol (Troy) Sutherland of Clifford, Millie (Harold) of Edinburgh ; four grandchildren; sister, Kathy Ault of Nashville; brothers, David Miller of Tennessee, Kenny (Wilma) Miller of Huntsville, Alabama; several nieces, nephews and first wife, Marsha Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eddie Miller and Delores Bullington.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Ed Boston officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. A live stream of the funeral service may be viewed at 12:00 p.m. Friday at barkesweaverglick.com.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
