SOUTHPORT, NC
Lynn Arthur Schwartzkopf, age 89, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Universal Home Health Care in Bolivia, NC after a long illness.
Lynn was born in Columbus, IN in 1935 to Robert and Minnie Scheidt Schwartzkopf, joining Lois, George, Roy, and later, Paul. They lived in very humble circumstances, yet Lynn and his brothers all graduated from Purdue University. He was employed in many industries, one being in Newport News, VA, where his only daughter, Lisa, was born.
Becoming more interested in Recruitment across the country, he learned of and obtained the role of HR Manager at the new Consolidated Diesel Company in Rocky Mount, NC. It was there that he met and married Katrina K. Eatman. When they both retired from CDC in the late 1990’s, they moved to Southport, NC, and enjoyed living there for many years.
Lynn became a proud tenor in the Sea Notes Choral Society where he also served as President and made many friends. Lynn was also President of the St. James Chapel and was a Master Gardener. Lynn was very personable and a joy to know. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina, daughter, Lisa Grounds, and grandchildren McKenna and Madalynn Grounds. Also surviving are his brother, Rev. Paul (Ann) Schwartzkopf, and many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois (Bud) Lohmeyer, brothers George (Jan) Schwartzkopf, and Roy (Marilyn) Schwartkopf.
Lynn’s funeral service will be held at a later date.
