National Weather Service predicting severe weather possible tonight and Sunday for Bartholomew County

Bartholomew County has the potential for severe weather for today and again Sunday.

  • Bartholomew County remains mostly under a Marginal Risk for severe weather today.  Only the northwest tip of the county is under a Slight Risk.
  • An Enhanced Risk for severe weather and Slight Risk for excessive rainfall remains for Sunday.

 Severe weather is possible from mid-afternoon today into tonight, most likely between 4 and 5 p.m.

On Sunday, severe weather is possible mid-morning to early afternoon with additional rounds overnight. It is predicted to occur between 4 and 10 p.m.

Main Threats:

  • Large Hail
    • 1 inch + possible (Friday and Sunday)
  • Damaging Wind
    • 60 mph +  (Friday and Sunday)
    • Damaging to Destructive Winds (Sunday)
  • Possible Tornadoes (Sunday)
  • Localized Flooding (Sunday)
    • 1” rainfall total for Friday.
    • 1” or greater rainfall total for Sunday AM.
    • PM rounds could bring additional heavy rainfall resulting in 3”+ total rainfall for some areas.
      • Saturated ground and multiple rounds of rainfall could lead to some flash flooding.

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County has the potential for severe weather for today and again Sunday. The National Weather Service says Bartholomew County is under a marginal risk for severe weather today with only the northwest tip of the county under slight risk.

There is an enhanced risk for severe weather on Sunday, and a slight risk of excessive rainfall on Sunday.

Main threats of the severe weather are large hail, 1-inch possible on Friday and Sunday, damaging winds up to 60 mph. Tornadoes are possible on Sunday along with localized flooding.
