Columbus Signature Academy (CSA) New Tech’s Class of 2024 conducted graduation ceremonies on Friday night.

The 75-student class of Dragons held the commencement ceremony in Columbus East High School’s gym as friends and family looked on.

Sophie Rafferty was salutatorian of the class and gave the student welcome speech and Janelly Villalobos, as valedictorian, gave the student farewell speech. Other speakers included Principal Mike Reed, BCSC Superintendent Jim Roberts, former BCSC Director of Secondary Education William Jensen and CSA New Tech teacher Andrew Larson.

The class motto for this year was “We entered as a spark, then left as a fire.”

Those who were unable to attend can catch a recap of the event on BCSC’s YouTube page at www.youtube.com/@BCSCSchools.

It was the final ceremony for outgoing principal Mike Reed, who is leaving the school after three decades. BCSC school board members voted in the last school board meeting to approve his successor, current Columbus Virtual Pathway Director Josh Giebel.
