COLUMBUS
Janice Helen Gooldy, 87, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 27, 1936 in Bloomington to Joseph and Maudlin Thrasher. They preceded her in death.
Janice was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She graduated from Bloomington H.S. and briefly attended Indiana University. She loved completing crossword puzzles and was very good at them. Janice was a talented cook and enjoyed cooking for all occasions, making sure every detail was covered. She also enjoyed her luncheons with her girlfriends. Additionally, she loved traveling, especially a trip to England with her late husband, Alaska with her cousins and late husband, which she truly enjoyed, along with trips to Mackinac Island with high school friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Gooldy; sons, Mitch, Doug and Greg Gooldy; her grandmother and the woman who raised her, Helen Thrasher; and two brothers.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Gina Perkins of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Debbie Gooldy of Columbus; grandchildren, Cody Clouse of Fishers, Luke (Brooke) Perkins of Elizabethtown, Eli Perkins of Hartsville, Emily Perkins of Columbus, and Shelby Gooldy of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Macey and Isabelle Perkins, all of Columbus; and five siblings. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Janice will be announced at a later date.
Memorials in her name should be directed to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Salvation Army.
