Jade Burnett of Columbus East High School and Hannah Shoaf of Hauser High School were selected as the annual Columbus Educators Association scholarship recipients. Both students received $1,000 for college expenses.

A new lodge at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., was named in honor of Columbus couple William and Ellen Laws. The William R. and Ellen Laws Lodge included 48 guest rooms and offices, three classrooms and a chapel.

Seven Purdue University students from Columbus — Jill Louise Coleman, Mary Jane Davee, Judith Ann Graham, Roger Lee Grayson, Joseph Robert Morrison, Barbara Diane Reed and Barbara Ann Segebarth — achieved straight-A grades for the second semester.
