COLUMBUS
Robert I. Wagner, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 8:02 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center.
Mr. Wagner was born October 13, 1948, in Columbus, the son of Robert E. and F. June Brock Wagner.
Robert retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1997 after 30 years of service.
He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a graduate of The American Jet School, Inc.
He enjoyed his time as retail merchant, farming, playing chess and wood carving where he won several local and state awards.
Survivors include his son, Benjamin (Benita) Wagner of Freetown; grandchildren, Nicholas (Hartlee) Wagner and Kaitlin (Damon) McGuckin; and a sister, Donna Wagner (Greg) Moore of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David E. Wagner.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Dr. Martin E. Wright officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. to time of service.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private graveside service will be conducted at Daugherty Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ogilville Christian Church or Schneck Medical Center Hospice-Seymour.
