David B. Farris

COLUMBUS

David B. Farris, 66, of Columbus unexpectedly passed from this life and into the arms of his savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

David was born on August 10, 1957, the son of Harold C. and Catherine Thomas Farris in St. Clair County, Illinois. David grew up in Rockville and Williamsport, Indiana. After attending Seeger High School, he served in the U.S. Army. After his tour of duty, he moved to Kokomo, Indiana and settled in Columbus, Indiana.

Mr. Farris worked at Bartholomew County Hospital for 15 years, where he met and married his beloved wife, Teresa Coulter Farris. They were married July 30, 1982. The couple have one child, a daughter, Victoria C.R. Farris. David served our local community as an electrician for over 25 years.

David was a loving husband and father with a quirky sense of humor. The most important values of his life were his faith in God, his family, and his friends. He enjoyed Nascar, auto/truck drag racing, target shooting, camping and hiking. He was a member of Berean Bible Church for over 25 years. Then, Bible Church of Columbus for 8 years. As of the last 6 years he regularly attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Catherine Farris, a brother, Clark L. Farris; and one nephew.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; daughter, Victoria of Columbus; mother-in-law, Mabel Coulter-Hughes of Columbus; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela (Jeff) Elkins of Columbus; four nieces and nephews; and half-sister, Eilene Jones of Oklahoma.

The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jerry K. Day Sr. and Pastor Adam Carrigan officiating.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 3:00 p.m. till time of service at the funeral home Thursday.

Private burial will take place at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

In memory of Mr. Farris memorial contributions may be given to Bethel Baptist Church General Fund or American Heart Association.
