Shirlie D. Wilson, of North Vernon, entered eternal rest at 12:25 p.m. om Thursday, August 15, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Aaron Shirley will officiate. Burial will be in the Scipio Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the funeral home.
Shirlie entered this world on March 19, 1940, in Metcalf County, KY. She was the loving daughter of Omer and Mattie Caffee. She was united in marriage to Reverend Glen “Tommie” Wilson for 50 years before he passed away in 2006.
Shirlie was a loving mother to six children and a loving ma to all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing quilts, cooking for her whole family every Saturday, and gardening. She was well known for her love for God and church. She was an active member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Letts, IN. “O how I love Jesus” was her favorite song. Shirlie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memories is sisters, Laura Geralds, and Edna Layton; children, Rickie (Dawn) Wilson, Steve Wilson, Donnie (Debi) Wilson, Debbie Clements, and Jason (Melissa) Wilson all of North Vernon; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Mattie Caffee; husband, Reverend Glen “Tommie” Wilson; son, Timmie Wilson; brothers, Chester, Melvin, Billy, and Ben Caffee; sister, Nellie Dickson; three grandchildren.
