COLUMBUS
David E. Haiderer was called home to heaven on September 29, 2024.
He was born on June 30, 1956, in Saginaw, MI to Edwin and Joanne Haiderer. Always a troublemaker during his youth, his father called him “Davy” whenever the latest antic occurred (many of the antics become stories for David’s family and friends to enjoy later in life). He tinkered with anything he could get ahold of and found a passion for construction and working with his hands during high school.
After receiving his degree in Construction Management, David moved to Columbus, IN where he found work at Breedlove Homes, the business he would purchase and rename, Haiderer Homes, in 1986. He operated his remodeling company with quality and integrity for over 35 years. Many of his customers, vendors, and employees became good friends with David. After retiring in 2022, he enjoyed spending time in his workshop building furniture and gifts for friends and family.
On April 6, 1991, David married Laura Harrington. She joined the company as co-owner in 1994. They were happily married until her passing on October 30, 2018.
On December 31, 2020, he married Ann Gorbett. Together, they would spend their days with their children, grandchildren, and friends sharing laughter and love. Whenever they could, they traveled to new places and went on mission trips.
David was a devoted Christian throughout his life and was a participant of Bible Study Fellowship for numerous years. Since 2008, he was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He helped remodel the space that is now the LifeWorks Center and took mission trips to Guatemala where he assisted with building homes for those in need. David enjoyed using his craftsman and woodworking skills to assist others where he could.
David leaves behind his loving wife, Ann; son, Eric Haiderer of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Ashley (Amos) Haiderer Baugher of Columbus; stepsons, Michael Hunter and Jonathan Hunter both of Columbus; his mother, Joanne Haiderer of Saginaw, MI; a sister, Judy (Mike) Barnes of Birch Run, MI; a brother, Don (Becky) Haiderer of Colorado; sister-in-law, Jo (Chuck) Nading of Westfield, IN; sister-in-law, Susan Lacy of Roanoke, IN; brother-in-law, Mark (Iana) Gorbett of Maryland; 3 beloved grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim Carter officiating. Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 9:00 a.m. to time of service at the church. In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the LifeWorks Center.
